MA in International Development Studies (MAIDS)

MAIDS combines the rigorous study of theoretical frameworks with practical field experience; looking to develop individuals with a sensitivity to and involvement in issues such as the promotion of social change, human rights, local community development, media freedom and humanitarian aid. Students have the opportunity to network with a wide range of practitioners involved in the work of government, international and civil society organizations, while the thesis project part of the course allows students to develop expertise in their chosen area of interest. The MA is intended for people who are making, or have the potential to make, a meaningful contribution in the field of international development as researchers, practitioners and leaders, and offers a comprehensive foundation for either a career in international development or for further study at the doctoral level.
This program is one-year in duration, running from October to September, and is divided into three- to four-month trimesters.
Remark: Applicants should also have work or volunteer experience in the field of International Development.
