Eligibility of the Applicants
To apply, students must:
1. Be a national of Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam or Thailand.
Note - Applicants from Thailand must be students from the three provinces in the far south, or from other border areas
2. Be a BA graduate in any field of study (but preferably with a social science background) and with a minimum grade
point average (GPA) of 3.0 or with an excellent, general academic record.
3. Possess good English proficiency, with a certificate showing a TOEFL score of over 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based (CBT)) or 79 (internet-based (iBT)), or an IELTS score of 6. Other qualifications accepted by the programs include the CU-TEP (CU test) – score of 550, AIT – EET (AIT test) – score of 6 and E-TEGS (CMU test) – score of 80.
Note - Official test scores are only valid for 2 years after the test date.

4. Commit to return to their home country after completion of the program to resume their work,
5. For the MDGS program, lower English proficiency score is acceptable if the applicants prove to have a strong background in the field of gender and development and a commitment in pursuing career in this field.

Application Procedure
Only fully completed application documents will be considered by the CDSSEA Secretariat. To apply for the scholarship, applicants must submit the following:
· A fully completed copy of the CDSSEA application form.
· An official transcript and a degree certificate – both in English. Only an original or certified copy of the transcript and a certified copy of the degree certificate will be accepted (translated into English, if not in English or Thai already).
· A curriculum vitae/resume providing information on present and past employment, academic awards, international travel, publications and extra-curricular activities etc.
· Two letters of reference (using the CSDSEA Reference Form) written by two referees familiar with the applicant’s work and capabilities. Referees should fill out the reference form provided by the applicant and return it in a sealed envelope with their original signature added. References should then be sent to the CDSSEA Secretariat along with the application form.
· A TOEFL or IELTS certificate - or an equivalent accepted by the programs. Certificates must be valid during the application period.
· A statement of purpose of about 800 to 1500 words describing the reasons for the applicant wishing to pursue his or her graduate studies in the area of development studies, plus his/her research interest, career expectations and how completing the program in development studies will help achieve the applicant’s goals.

All applications must be sent to the CDSSEA Secretariat. Only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview, which will be held either in the applicant’s home country or using the internet/Skype.
The scholarship award is conditional upon an applicant’s acceptance by the Master’s program to which he or she has applied (separately). Students can review the admission requirements and application deadlines for each program of study via the respective website. To apply for the relevant program of study, applicants should communicate directly with the institution running the program – using the application form specified.

Timelines for 2014 Selection Process
• 30th April 2014: Deadline for CDSSEA applications.
• 10th-25th May, 2014: Interviews with shortlisted scholarship candidates held in participating countries. Dates will vary.
• 31st May 2014: Successful CDSSEA applicants notified.
• 15th June 2014: Deadline for students informing the CDSSEA Secretariat of acceptance on to the relevant program.
